Mr Popatia is a telecommunications engineer and focuses on strategy, implementation, and operations of urban and rural ICT networks. His expertise includes a wide array of technologies, including cellular wireless, broadband wireless, satellite, land mobile radio, call centre voice systems, Internet access, and Voice over IP.
Mr Popatias ICT experience encompasses technology evaluations, economic analyses, network planning, business and operations planning, systems engineering, and project management. He has led large-scale rural ICT projects for the World Bank and Canadian International Development Agency in Asia and Africa. Mr. Popatia has also been involved with mission critical ICTs for public safety and disaster recovery applications.
Mr Popatia is a Senior Associate with Intelecon. His previous roles include Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group and Director of Wireless Services, Engineering & Operations at a Canadian telecommunications operator. He was appointed to Canadas winning 2010 Olympic Bid Expert Panel which developed the ICT strategy and plan, and presented to the International Olympic Commission (IOC). He is registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
