Mr Sharp is a network engineer with Planetworks, an engineering firm closely associated with Intelecon (www.planetworks.ca). He provides technical support to Intelecon projects that involve network planning, design, specification, implementation, monitoring, appraisal, due diligence and regulatory analysis.

With over 25 years of experience, Mr. Sharp's portfolio spans the whole spectrum of telecommunications technologies from optical fibre and satellite to wireless and cellular communications, and public and private sector projects in 15 countries. He completed large scale planning, design and implementation projects in Canada, Philippines, and Thailand, and many smaller projects. He has been the technical expert on multi-disciplinary teams undertaking planning, design and due diligence projects in Canada, Eastern Europe and South America, preparing national telecommunication development plans in the Philippines and network expansion plans in Indonesia. Services delivered include feasibility study, technology assessment, forecasting, design, cost estimating, specification, preparation of bid documentation, procurement support, supervising implementation and acceptance, as well as technical support to policy teams and regulatory agencies, institutional strengthening and training.

Prior to joining Planetworks, Mr. Sharp was Chief Engineer for a mid-sized engineering firm (Teleconsult Ltd, now merged with Deloitte Consulting). He has authored and co-authored several published papers on rural and remote telecommunications. Duncan Sharp holds a MEng (Networks) and BSc (EE), is a member of the IEEE, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Canada.
